Hi, new to this web space. Very confused, took .5 hr to just get to this point. Been playing stalker for about 3 weeks, as you all know, the more you play the more there is to the game. Any way, I'm not very computer savy and have ran into a problem with installing mods into the game itself. I get them to download to a file but don't know how to integrate the file into the game. If any one is willing to give me info on this process, please give me step by step info and don't assume that I would know any appreviations. Please excuse my ignorence, just trying to learn.

Hey Sunday123!! Lets see if we can get you going...I am going to start by assuming that you have no mods installed. First, lets get our game "prepped", ...to make it "see" the new mod. Do this by finding the main installation folder of your game...C:\Program Files\THQ\STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl is usually the default. Next, if you open that folder, you will see a file named fsgame.ltx Right click on this file and choose EDIT...and it should open up with Notepad. Now, the 2nd line :

$game_data$ = false| true| $fs_root$| gamedata

Change the false to true, i.e.:

$game_data$ = true| true| $fs_root$| gamedata

Then save the changes. OK!! Now the game will look at the gamedata folder you are about to add before it looks at the packed db (database) files. Now for the next step...OK, you have downloaded the mod....but it is still compressed either in .zip or .rar format. So create a "new" folder somewhere (anywhere BUT the STALKER game folder) and extract the files to it. Now, if you open up that new folder you will usually see a "read-me" file and a folder called gamedata. The read-me file should contain the instructions I have just given you plus info about the mod. Take the time to open it and read it. Now copy the folder called gamedata.. and paste it into your main game folder....so when you are done it should show up right there with a folder called bin and several "loose" files like fsgame.ltx. This is what it should look like: C:\Program Files\THQ\STALKER-Shadow of Chernobyl\gamedata. Your mod is now installed! Now....there is another way of doing this...by extracting the mod directly to the STALKER folder...but this is the safest way! And also keep in mind that this usually only works for one mod... before installing a 2nd mod you need to verify that it does not use any of the same files as the first mod did. Same folders is fine...same files is not. If they did share the same file, the two files would have to be "merged" together..do not overwrite one with the other or it will not work. Whew! Hope this helps! Fatrap

Well...looks like that mod is compressed in 7z format (at least the one I saw was)...if I am correct and the one you downloaded says .7z at the end of its name, then you will have to have a program to un-compress (extract the files) I would suggest going over to Free Software Downloads and Software Reviews - Download.com and search for 7z then select the program that fits your needs. Many of them are free or have a free trial period. After extracting the files, just follow the rest of my directions. Fatrap

There are a lot of excellent ones out there...natasha8384 just posted one a few days ago and it is fantastic...Basix GFX-H....it is full featured (and in .zip format!) Or feel free to check mine out...Fatraps FPS Fun Pack...it is a simpler mod that is designed for the less experienced gamer. (It is in .rar format). Both are available at FileFront. Here are links to both:

FatRaps FPS Fun Pack, Stalker Downloads, Stalker Singleplayer Basix GFX-H, Stalker Downloads, Stalker Singleplayer

See you tomorrow! PM me if you need help!
