I can't play the game because of a bug that goes after all the beginning cutscenes, and I've assumed that if I could patch it - it would be fixed. Problem is, the patcher won't even start. I've got the same issue with Clear Sky save the startup doesn't even go anywhere - I just get " you need to be administrator " crap, which isn't true because I haven't had UAC on since I installed windows 7 and I've set it with administrative privileges.

Whats the error that happens at the start of the cutscenes? what are it's symptoms?

Also by 'Patcher' do you mean a patcher program or the patch installer? if your using an auto patcher then try downloading the patches seperately.

Also check the rightclick context menu on the patcher/patch to see if there are any further admin privileges or securities you can alter.

I said after, not before. As to the bug, I've got nothing. Literally, nothing.

I'm not one to use patchers I'll just directly get the patch. 2a7abmh.jpg

I fixed SHOC w/ the very first patch - which happened to be the only patch which seems to work. I still can't get clear sky to start up or get any of the other patches to work.

Despite what you've done, Dragunover, the warning is somewhat true. Installers own their installs, and when you run the game you are running under the game installer's authority -- they are effectively a different user than you.

So patches don't go over the stuff owned by another, but instead they are put into a shadow directory. When you are not running the game, you can look at the data and see your stuff on top of the original install, but that's similar to how there's a user directory and an all-users directory, and you can see icons on your desktop from both Desktop subdirectories.

You can't patch these games without full authority yourself. You might try search for how to take ownership of the installation directory, or re-install the game into a directory where you already have full ownership -- not in Program Files.
