I just got into skinning, pretty much, and I'm having a few problems with the 'Skinning a Weapon' tutorial I found on www.sof2files.com/.

And the problem I'm having is... turning the .zip file into an .pk3 file.

I've pretty much done everything.

Okay, this is what I've done:

Created three folders, inside eachother: models/weapons/ak74, then after skinning the ak74, I saved it to the ak74 folder.

After I did that, I right-clicked on the models folder, then went to the WinZip subdirectory, then clicked on 'add to models.zip...', did that... and the .zip file was created.

After that, I renamed models.zip to models.pk3, then copy/pasted it into the Soldier of Fortune II - Double Helix GOLD/base/mp folder.

After I did that, I started up SOF2, connected to a server, then when I entered the game, the ak74 didn't change or anything, so it didn't work.

And sometimes, the server disconnects me because of this error: Disconnected from server: Invalid .PK3 were referenced. - Or whatever, can't remember what it said exactly, but you get the idea.

And another error comes up sometimes... whenever I enter a game, it closes SOF2 and brings up a flashing red error(Within the console, but outside of the game), can't remember what it said though.

Anyways... I also did something else to turn the .zip into a .pk3 file.

I right-clicked on the models folder, went to the Winzip subdirectory, then clicked on 'Add to Zip file...', then when Winzip popped up, I renamed the .zip part to .pk3(models.pk3), and clicked on Add.

I think it worked, because I seen a .pk3 file, but without the .pk3 extension, but it looked as it might work this time.

So I copy/pasted it in the SOF2/base/mp folder, loaded up SOF2, then entered a game, and it still didn't seem to work.

What am I doing wrong?

How can I correctly turn the models.zip file into a .pk3 file?

Please explain this to me.

Thank you.

ok i dont know what program you used to skin, i use psp, did you save your ak74, as ak74.jpg, or save it as ak74.psp? it should be saved as a jpg

and make sure your showing file extensions (so your not naming it models.pk3.zip) if it's not showing the extension click TOOLS>FOLDER OPTIONS then click the VIEW tab and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types"

there is a simple way to make a pk3 file

when you use Winzip

you right click that folder models and do add to archive or add to zip file then you have to put in a file name behind patch you make the file name like myak.pk3 then add it it will create an instant pk3 instead of a zip file

but when you do add to zip file you can also Remove the .zip and replace it with .pk3

It seems you did everything correct. The skins will not show on a pure server though. Why this is I dont know. I would love to have that answer. I even sent the same .pk3 file up to my own server and it wont work
