I'm still new to mapping, the only question I have is; how to create my own textures for my maps.

I tried to create a folder inside of my C:\Sof2SDK\base\textures and placed custom pictures in there so my textures would show up in Radiant, but when I placed the same pictures/textures in my \textures folder in my map.pk3 file, all I got was black and white textures all over my map.

What am I doing wrong? :uhoh:

Your custom texture need to be in another folder (in the pk3 and in the textures folder for SDK/GTK)

With GTK (Y the hell r u using SDK?) I put custom textures as follows;

C:\program files\sof2\base\textures\my_map_name\my_texture.jpg

The I open GTK and load the "my_map_name" texture set and apply the textures. When your ready to make the pk3 copy the "my_map_name" folder and paste into the textures folder in the pk3.

Thats should work for u.

BTW get Gtkradient 1.4.0

Yeah, I'm getting the GTK; but right now I'm using SDK. Ok, so when I get this I can put it anywhere as long as I know where they are. Just to make sure I understand this right.

I can put my homemade textures let's say C:\TexturesSOF2 and I need to add only the textures I used in my map and place them in my maps PK3 texture folder, right?

No you must put them in the sof2\base\textures folder in a folder of your choosing, I would advise naming the folder the same as the map your making to save problems in the future.

OK. I still need to add my custom textures from within sof2\base\textures to my PK3's texture file correct? Only just the textures I've used in the map, right? Thanks again, Paul

Yes. Make sure the filepath is the same in the pk3 as it is in sof2\base.

So if its sof2\base\textures\mymap\pics.jpg

then the pk3 should contain textures\mymap\pics.jpg

Don't just put your textures (the jpg files) directly into the textures folder in the pk3, they must be in another folder just like in the sof2\base.
