Hi! I have just started creating my first map, and I love it. I have no experience with this but I am picking it up quickly. I use Radiant. Now the problem I am having is that I cannot figure out how to place weapons in my map. I followed a tutorial, which tells me to rigt-click and select weapon and then the type of weapon. But there are no weapons under the weapon option, also there is no ammo option. Another problem I am having is that I have a window placed in my map but i must have done it wrong because When you shoot it, it doesnt shatter, but you can see through it. I know I am overlooking something, but i am very new to this and cannot seem to find anything about it. Thanks for any help.
I use Radiant
what radiant? if you don't use gtk 1.2.11 or 1.2.13 go get that from www.qeradiant.com it will pbly fix your weapon thingy. it is probably a entity.def related problem... i think switching to gtk will work :)
window: select > RMB > func > func_glass
Fisrt of all the weapons, ammo and health are all under the "pick-ups" menu when you right click.Make sure you don't have any brushes or entities selected by pressing ESC then with your cursor in the place you want your weapon/health/ammo right click and go down to the pick-ups menu. select the item you want and hey presto. About the window. Select the window brush and right click then go down the list and in the "func" menu you will find "func_glass" click it. This is assuming you are mapping for MP and I use Gtkradient 1.2.13-sof2 so if you are using something else it might be different.
Thanks guys, I was using the wrong version. Anyway now I can do the things I couldn't before but when I compile the map and try to test it (devmap 'mapname') I get an error: SV_SetBrushModel: NULL and the map will not load, so I can't see if the glass function worked. Can someone please tell me what this error is. Thanks again. :)
I quote from
A.This is an error which related to one of the entities in your map, say you have placed a areaportal texture on a door entity, thats going to give this error. You should look through your entities and see if you can see anything dodgy. Look for mainly irregular textures on entities, like the areaportals on doors, origin textures on triggers etc, remove textures that shouldn't be on certain entities. Debatably can also be where you have entities that are only 1 smallest unit thick. This error has been debated to whether it does really cause this error, still if the other solution doesnt work try this."
I found this error in my map some time ago: the mistake was that I incidentally textured a tool origin in a ceiling fan. This Fheler's page gave me the solution. I hope cld hellp u too.
