I have neither the know-how nor the time for mapping myself (as an older gamer preoccupied with work, family, et cetera), but I'm dyin' to see "Urban Arena ][", an old favorite map from my Unreal Tournament days, imported into SOF2:
As the name implies, it's a fantastic urban/city-themed map and IMHO, it screams to become an SOF2 hot spot. In addition to great textures, its features include fire escapes, a working elevator, an underground parking garage, a tunneled sewer system (below the garage), a sniper-friendly rooftop, accessible ledges over the street, and more. It's sheer size and varied levels make it almost three maps in one, yet the interconnectivity makes it easy to get from point A to point C pretty fast. There's also a parked car that I'd love to see someone improve upon the map by adding an alarm to (so that anytime someone jumped on it or shot it, it wailed for maybe 20 seconds).
I feel like a real estate agent saying this, but it's only got one door (a gate, really), so save for removing that, updating the weapon/powerup placements, and changing a single teleportal to a manhole, its design is plug-and-play for SOF2. I know nothing about mapping, but I'd suspect that someone with experience could crank out the transition over a weekend afternoon...?
Surely there's a bright young mind out there who'd be up for the task? :lookaround:
You must be kidding this is SOF2. There can't be any of those people around. LOL. I downloaded the map you suggested and if it can be converted from a .bsp to a .map without messing up the architecture then most likely it can be modified to play in SOF2 format. InsaNe CloWn

Thanks, IC. If I can be of any help (not that I know of many ways how), gimme a shout.
Dumb, quick question, IC: Did you mean you'll be giving the transition a go, or were you just stating that it shouldn't be hard for someone else to?
It's Seinfeld-ish: The first time I read your post, I thought you were gonna' do it... but upon re-reading it, now I'm not sure.
Clarify, please (in case I've gotten my hopes up too soon)?
I haven't heard from IC since his post here, so this is a re-request: Can someone out there help me out? I know squat about mapping, but I can give ample moral support. :cya:
Hey man.Well first off the archtexture wont get messed up from converting a bsp too a map...but the textures wont come along...itll have too be done the old fashioned way,But if it is a unreal map....you cant convert, not that i know of so you have too rebuild everything....i dont have the time too do it quickly...but ill give it a shot as soon as i reinstall unreal.Cheers
Thanks guy. *salutes* :)
I havent come around too mapping again...ive been studyin alot. And practising 3ds max.Well maybe ill get around too mapping soon but i dont promise anything.Chnces are that yer map has or wuz aalready builded for quake3.If you can find out that....i can easily make it for sof2.
