I'm trying to make a map heavily based on terrain, for that I use nemesis's terrain generator and its good and the terrain aint the problem I'm experimenting with the map and trying to get a feel of how big the map is so ive created a wooden fence around the terrain and then a skybox on the outside, so I BSP'd it and put it in the base folder then opened the sof2 mp and type "map terrain" and it starts loading but when the map is loaded it is all black and I can join a team. I tried loading it in SP too and its the same completly black but the m4 comes on and if i fire the gun it leaves a picture of the bullets in a trail on the screen. Does any1 know what is wrong and how to fix it???????????

i think the sky you are using is wrong, some skies don't seem to work, try using another 1, or edit the shader

I was using sam sky.

anyway I made another map and this time it comes up as black and white default texture, you know the one but at least I could move around and see the size of the map, I'm still learnin must find out how to use ladders and steps yet.

btw how do i use the gametype prefabs you made banana????

black and white means that the game couln'd find the path to the textures, or it couldn't load the textures, this can happen with custom textures, especially if you are using sdk (of course you shouldn't use skd, but gtk) this can be a problem...

and extract the prefabs to anywhere and then go to edit > load prefab and select a prefab, there is a readme in the zip somewhere that explains how to use each prefab

well with the textures I only have 1 texture folder in my radient base folder as there were like textures 1/2/3/4 and they just increased in size so I kept the medium ones do the textures in the radient base folder have to be the name as in the sof2 base folder???? or should I set the path in the radient preferences to go straight to the sof2 base/textures??????

I just tried something with the map and it worked the textures showed up and the map worked fine in MP but I thought sky textures were supposed to have natural light emitted from them, the building i built was fine with the lights inside but the outside part was dark, should i place lights outside too????

yeah some skies don't work somehow, i have that too sometimes... try another sky, and if you are using sdk you should really try gtk its much better

I got gtk and your right its way better and a hundred times more stable, a little different to use but I guess I can get used to it I think mapping is cool I spent 10hrs one day and didnt notice it lol I've decided my first proper project is going to be a military training building where one team must defend the house and the other must assault it. It'll mainly be a inf and dem map but it could be ok for other gametypes too.

One thing I'd like to ask is about doors, is there anyway to have closed doors that you can open with the "use" button because breaching doors is way better than just running through an open doorframe. Im talking about like in the MOH raidiant you have opening and closing doors.

thanks dude, it'll help I'm new to mapping so I need all the help I can get I did a bit of mapping on MOHAA but nothing much so heres hoping to a new mapping hobby. (wish SoF2 didnt crash on me all the time though so then I could use my maps lol)

Oh yeah where can I find a settings tutorial for Gtk, you know how to set all the preferences.
