I have imported a new car model with respective texture in SoF2 from Midtown Madness 2 with Zmodeler,3D Studio max 5 and Milkshape. the model appears but without texture. I do not know where I have mistaken with the texture, what is the correct procedure for new model textures? other files beyond to md3 and the jpg texture are necessary?
In which step of your conversion did the textures disappear? In which program they still worked?
If Milkshape still showed the textures and GTKRadiant doesn't show them, there might be shaders missing (if you need I can point you to a good tutorial). If GTKRadiant did show textures but the don't show up in game then you may need to compile with -rename during bsp-process. Please be a bit more specific in describing the problem, I might be able to help. Greetz, B.
I do not see the texture In Milkshape to the window 3D but in texture coordinator editor windows yes. I export the model from Milkshape and in the GTKRadiant I do not see the textures. Probably I mistake something in Milkshape to assign the textures
If you right-click in Milkshape in your 3D-window choose: textured, if your textures don't appear they're not assigned correctly.
If they do appear then conversion to m3d didn't go too well, or you didn't make shaders for the model - did you make a correctly modified QC-file? - did you make matching shaders in a *.shader file? If you want you can email me the ms3d-file and the textures and I'll see if I can make a correct m3d-file with a shaderfile, email: info at 3dv dot nl Greetz, B.
the model is textured now in 3d view thanks. I create the qc shader no :type:
ok thanks I send to you my model
You didn't email me your Milkshape ms3d-file, so here's how to do it: - Make sure your Milkshape-modelfile and the textures are in the same directory. It doesn't have to be a game-directory, this will be your Milkshape-work directory. - If your model is properly textured you can create the QC-file TOOLS -> Quake III Arena -> Generate Control File - Choose to save it in the same directory as your Milkshape-modelfile and give it the same name. For example: fordvictoria.qc - Edit your control-file: - Change the line with '$model ....' to point to the right directory For example: $model models/mynewcars/fordvictoria.md3 - Change the line with ''$frames 1 30' to '$frames 1 1' - Change all lines with '$skin ....' to point to the right directory for your texture(s), make sure you only change the 'bold'-part, so just the direcorynames. For example: $skin models/mynewcars/fordvictoria - Now you can export your model to a md3-file FILE -> Export -> Quake III Arena MD3 - Save it in the same directory as your Milkshape-modelfile and your qc-file, and with the same name as the qc-file. For example: fordvictoria.md3 - Create a new map in your base\models directory For example: base\models\mynewcars (same name as in the qc-file) - Copy the fordvictoria.md3 and the textures for your model to this new directory - Now you can import this file in GTKRadiant Hope this helps. If it does, you can repay me by downloading and commenting my new sof2-mp map: :naughty: Dutch Apartments :nodding:. Still in beta. Just can't resist a possibility to pimp my map a bit....;) Greetz, B.
I have mistaken, also why I don't saved it in ms3d, from 3ds I export it in md3. However now I try to follow what you have written and see if I succeed. thanks
I have your maps, I must try these.
after that I have tried them where the comment?
also I have 2 old maps if you want to try and to say to me what to them of tasks
Oh yes... my car work, very very thanks.
I have tried your map :type:
Glad I could help.
I tried your maps, very nice, especially 'Building' has a nice atmosphere and guess you can have a real fragfest wiht a lot of players there.... lots of staircases and interconnections. Great work! Nice fog-effect on the water in rapid. I got my server running Dutch Apartments right now, wanna play a minute? connect 18.104.22.168 Greetz, B. comments on the map you can mail to: firstname.lastname@example.org
