Hi guys, does anyone know how to speed up SOFII in multiplayer mode? I've been playing SOFI for a while now and it's pretty fast on my PC. SOFII runs like crawling thru treacle, even with everything turned down low. But only in MP mode. A lot of the guys I meet online say they don't play SOFII cos of this, so just like me they stick to SOFI. I prefer the graphics of SOFII but the slow gameplay really puts me off. I was on a SOFII server a few months ago that ran with the speed of SOFI. Some guy told me it was running a mod, but don't know what the mod is. I'm sure one of you guys must know what it is and where it can be found. My hardware is a bit dated now: 1Ghz Athlon, 64Mb GeforceMX400,512Mb PC133 RAM, but how about other guys who even have much better hardware and still find SOFII slow ONLINE only. Oh btw, I do have ADSL and play mainly on UK servers with an average ping of about 45 in a game. Maybe I'll get to actually enjoy SOFII one of these days. Thx in advance for any help. {DPG}187:mac10:

You dont need a mod to change the speed of the game. The server admin can change it by typing in the console:

rcon g_speed XXX

Where XXX determines the speed (default is 280)

Thx for the reply man, but if it's that easy how come the server admin leave it at the default? Surely it would make more sense to have the pace of the game a bit quicker than the default. {DPG}187

OK, I get it. I'll be building myself a new PC soon and if that doesn't improve things I'll ditch SOFII and stick to UT and UT2003,never had problems with it and the multiplayer speed is blinding on my machine. IMHO I think the Unreal graphics engine is better than the modded QuakeIII one. {DPG}187

I guess it depends what you're used to. The default movement speed in SOF2 is a lot quicker game than say, Medal of honor or BF1942. Personally I think Raven got the right compromise between realism and speed. Most people leave the speed set to default but i've been on servers with high speed and low gravity (rcon g_gravity xxx (default is 800)) you can find them if you look around.

Thx for that bit of info mate. I guess it is a matter of what you're used to. I'm very used to the pace of games like Quake III Arena, SOFI, UT,UT2003 and RTCW, all IMHO run at my kind of pace. SOFII doesn't do it for me. I guess I'm gonna have to keep hunting for those servers. {DPG}187
