it sure is, if you have low fps try lowering resolution to 800x600 which offers good performance and good image quality
I just turn down the quality a bit, turn down shell count, stuff like that will add up on you. I have my settings at the normal 800x640 i believe. Im only running a 1.3 gig processor and a 64 mb geforce but i still get around 100 fps (thats on a bad day). Typically get about 120 FPS.
How do you check your frames per second?
slapshot i noticed u had to change your avatar.when i seen that the first time on your first thread i laughed my ass off.it is only time till these admins get ahold of ya.they are some freakin quick ones :)
anyway to answer your ? u hit the tilda key(the key on your keyboard next to the 1(it looks like this ~ )
and that brings down your console.in there type this exactly:
cg_drawfps1
then hit the tilda key to exit the console.if u did it correctly u should be able to look into your top right corner and it will have a number.that is your frames per second :)
to answer the first ? there are alot of things that effect your fps.settings is just one of them.if u have a decent computer with a decent video card in it then u should be able to run 1024x768 and get around 100 fps.again it is effected by alot of things but if u are pretty up to date with your computer componets then 100 fps should not be a problem.i think it was brought up that u cant see more than 35 fps anyway(could be wrong but know it was in that ballpark) so anything over 50 is plenty suffecient.if u have 50 at 1024x768 then i would run on the better resolution.
hope this helped :)

Cool, thanks hoss. Yeah, I didn't get caught with the mountains on the left, but I changed it before it became a problem.
Hey Hoss,
That didn't work to show my frame rate. I know I didn't type it in wrong either, 'cuz I copied and pasted what you wrote above into the console. It's not a big deal, but I was just curious what my frame rate was.
SLAPPSHOT
yeah u are right looking back at it now i see why it didnt.there is supposed to be a space between the drawfps and the 1 so it should look like this.
cg_drawfps 1
sorry again and good luck :)
