Hey all I need help here. Lately SOF2 has started to freeze up on me in game. The sound will loop on one note and I can't do anything, like get back to desktop. Everything frezes up. My dsl modem shows that there is a problem in the connection to my computer but I assume that if its just something wrong with my ethernet card the bandwidth would drop and not freeze the whole system up. The freeze lasts for about 30 seconds and when I get out of it my ping is at 999 but then drops imediatly to my average 80-90 range. I have no idea what is causing this. None of my other games have this problem. I just installed a new Geforce 4 ti 4200 into my computer about a month ago but this problem just started last week. I got new drivers for my ethernet card and even removed and reinstalled it but that did not work. Donna what the problem is here. Maybe old drivers for the video card? I wouldn't think that would cause my whole system to freeze up. Heat problems maybe? Any advice would be helpful.

It sounds strange that it freezes and then goes back.... Usualy it would just crash. I had some heat problems before, and my game would either crash or the comptuer would restart. I suggest taht you make sure that you have latest drviers for everything. Then if you still have trouble.... check the temp inside your case and make sure that its not too hot in there... Then if that doesnt work unistall and reinstall the game....

was it an ABit Ti4200?

anyway sounds like the old nvidia.dll nv4 loop

try uninstalling the graphics card back to standard VGA drivers

reboot

then run detonator destroyer

reboot

then destroy any file with nvidia name in it (including the c:nvidia system folder (use a file destroyer do not just erase it)

reboot

run the detonator 40.72 installer (or 30.82, but i found 40 dets to be better)

voila

should fix the problem

hope it works for you too
