Hi,

I have been downloading maps like crazy (just maps), I dont like to wait to download a map when I play, so I downloaded a lot of maps from sof2files.com and sof2web.com, unzip them, and copy it to the base folder. But I dont know if there is currupted map, with all the importing maps from CS and other games, I dont know if this maps are fully compatible with SOF2, but as I said I have only downloaded from this two sites.

Lately when I load some maps it gives the following error.

Z_Malloc(): Failed to malloc 11588828 bytes!

And it closes the game (see attachment)

Thanks for any comments or opinions that you could give me to solve my problem (beside of reinstalling the game).

Thanks, Abula

Delete all the maps you have downloaded and start again, testing each map first before you download the next one, plus why do you need all of the maps ?? just get the two mappacks from sof2files.com they have most of the generally used maps in them.

this error is just when the game can't allocate enough memory to load the map. there shouldn't be any problem with maps converted from other games, anyway, open your sof2mp.cfg in base/mp and find

/seta com_hunkmegs 56 (56 is default)

and change it to 128 or something like that (assuming you have 256 or more mbram) doing this will free up more memory for sof2 to use. you'll also notice better performance :)

EDIT: after seeing the screenshot i thought maybe it could also be that you have too many maps in your base folder, but i'm pretty sure the thing above will fix it

$ir Paul =UK= , Thanks for the suggestion. I really wish that servers kept only with those two map packs, which by the way I already have and are a very good compilation of maps, I wish a third or fourth pack were made so it will be easiear. But the servers that I play contantly are searching for new maps, and I think is good for the comunity so we dont get bored, but is also is bad because you have to download it. But what I have done is download as much maps as I posibly can and I have my own backup of maps.

LeTHaL BaNaNa, THanks for the info, I didnt know that, I change it and its working, everything is running more smooth, but I didnt have the default 56, but 45, I have 1Gb or ram, I put 256, do you think I could benfit with more or you think that amount is enough?

One other thing, I did modify the sof2mp.cfg, but there is another in the OSP but it doesnt have this command, I dont know if the 256 come into play when I enter an OSP server, do you know if there is another command in the OSP config?

THanks again to both of you for your suggestions and opinions, Abula

Here's a thought list in a new thread, what maps you would like to see in a map pack, all the maps are on sof2files, so i could get someone to make it. Also your sof2mp.cfg file will have to be changed for all mods, just overwite with the one you changed. ;)

yeah, there is a sof2mp.cfg in the sof2/osp folder as well, so change it as well there...

you can put it to 768mbram if you want i think :) GODh always says not to use more than 75% of your total ram :)
