Hi I was wondering if anybody had knowledge of Hard Disks. I know the basics ( different model#s, ATA, SCSI, EIDE, LBA, CHS ETC. ) but, Im sure that my NEW MAXTOR 40GB 7200 RPM ATA-133 isnt using the more advanced 133MhZ transfer rate. I broke a pin on my old HDD ( which I was told can be fixed if its a pin close to either end ) and so I bought a new one ( I might have done it subliminally because I wanted a bigger ( old 20GB/ new 40GB ) and faster hard drive ( ATA 133 - 7200RPM to match my GIGABYTE MOBO option that supports ATA 133. I think that my problems stem from drivers. When I install an after market driver ( ULTRA ATA 133 ), the control panel shows that my HDD is a SCSI HD ( I wish ). When I go back to the other drivers the HDD properties says that its ATA multi-word 2 drive. Is multi-word 2 the same as ATA 133? I would like to get the most from my hard earned money. So if anybody can help with my problem, please please please help.
