Hi, I have a server running, and we are bored with the old maps. Only prob is that when the map cycle changes to a new map, we end up with 2 or 3 people as everyone else gets kicked, so we end up swapping back to a normal map, thus continuing the saga! What I want to do is to allow the users to automatically download the maps when we are playing a map they do not have. The server is an rpm5 mod and it has a Yes/No toggle for allow map downloads. This is what I want to set to Yes, but what I want is for it to download the maps from another server, which is not hosting the game, and thus won't interfere with the game in progress. I have read as much of the rpm 5 docs as I can find, and gone through all the config files that I can find, but I can't find a setting where I can say 'download the maps from this server:www.myotherserver.com/maps' Can anyone help me? Thanks AJ
That's a good idea. :)
But...
What most people to do, is direct people towards a website, where it has a list, and downloads, of all the files/maps they need to connect to the server. It's always a slow transfer rate from servers, so hosting them on a website, or linking to sof2files.com, is probably the easier answer. It could save you moeny. :nodding:
the only way you can get away with this is the following. run your server as unpure. and then let everybody know what map is next and if it is custom map in your server cfg, by use of the motd/server function. if the server is unpure ..they won't need it till it comes up and they don't have it . or you can make a map pack and put it on your website. and change your server name, so they know to get the map pack. "blah blah Custom maps clan site."
auto downloading doesnt work on 1.00 apparently.
