As far as i can imagine it should run fine m8 . Its still a mac right ?
yeah its an iMac. BUT, some pre-intel software doesnt run on the new machines. its few and far between. im sure someone has gone through this.
It shouldn't work unless Raven have released new binaries to support the x86 architecture. Old Macs are based on the PPC architecture which is completely different from x86.
Unless OSX is able to emulate the PPC architecture for backwards compatibility the answer is no.
actually i just talked to the one guy in my clan who i helped give advice to recently when he got his first apple. he just got a macbook pro. it ran on his with the intel proc. but the framerate wouldnt go above about 80 or so. he had a bit of lag. so it does run, but i guess id like to get some peoples different experiences. his macbook pro is running 2.4ghz, 2gb ram, and 256mb video. my eMac runs 1.25 ghz, 756 ram, 64mb video. i run on average at about 110-120 fps. the iMac im gonna get is 2.4ghz, 1gb ram (probably gonna buy a second 1gig stick) and 256 ram, so itd esentially be the same as his.
but from computer to computer im sure there is somewhat of a difference. and yeah osx is very capable of emulating most powerpc software. most pre-intel software transitions over just fine. sometimes some software may take a little longer to load up tho.
You'll probably find it will run slightly slower on your new iMac, as OSX has to emulate PPC, that extra layer always slows performance but shouldn't greatly affect the game.
Although it will also depend on your graphical settings.
thanks menphis. thats pretty much what im finding as im asking around. everyone basically is saying the same thing. so thanks, i have no problem with a little bit of slow down. and its well worth getting that sexy new iMac:)
