basically a cd key is there to stop piracy. You can only play online with a valid cd key. A cd key becomes banned if two or more people try to use the cd key to play online at the same time. This means that they are using copies and shouldnt be allowed to play online. That is why next to the cd key it says never to give it to anyone.
mostly people who have pirate copies will find that cd keys are banned. if you find a cd key in a forumn somewhere, it is also most likely to be banned.
However, there have been some problems with legitimate copies. That if you tried to play online it would say that you have a banned cd key. last i heard they didnt know why it was happening and they were looking into it.
you wouldnt to happen to have a pirate copy, now would you ????
Well..... Assuming several factors: 1. You DO NOT have a pirated copy, you have one you purchased brand-new at a store.
2. You did not copy YOUR game for anyone else.
If you meet those two requirements then get in touch with Raven or Activision and they will take care of it. I believe that there is a news story on this site somewhere that says who to talk to, but if you call the tech # they should help you out.
More than likely if you bought it it was a misprint or someone bought it pirated it and returned it.
Did you register? ALWAYS register your games when you get em.
