Hi guys & girls, I had had no trouble connecting to pb servers in the past. However, about a week ago my brother got a global guid ban. About 2 days later I noticed that I 2 was banned. Here is some specs: * 2 P4 computers connected via router to Cable internet (similar ip) * SOF2 Gold Edition 1.03 (we each have our own cdkey) * Both run WinXP with min 512Mb Ram and 64Mb nVidia cards He is very angry cause the reason he got banned says: Violation: VIOLATION (CVAR) #9001 Extra Info: gcg_leankey = 32 Caught By: Fragoholics We dont even know what this means. He don't have internet copy of game, he doesnt use key binds, he doesnt cheat (his 2 good 2 need 2). Anyway, the thing is that since his ban I am now getting the following errors, but I have looked up me on the PB Ban site and I am not there, and they wont even email me when I try to ask them same as I ask here. Errors: + PB Global Guid Ban (same as brother but different #s on end) + Invalid pointer + .pk3 incompatible (or something like that) + GUID unknown (or something like that) Basically it means I might be able to play on a PB serva but might not. Errors are not consistent, all 4 happen at diff times. I am very confused. I have tried updating PB and then I run the following commands that a guy told to run when I was on a non PB serva: -> PB_CL_ENABLE -> PB_CDKEYVER Still I have big trouble trying to connect to PB servas. Any ideas ppl cause I have none. Thnx John

You said you're connected through a router right? Well the problem is you two having the same i.p.. When PB banned your brother, it banned him and his I.P. Thus, banning you, because you have the same I.P. That's your problem right there. :smokin:

A Global GUID Ban means that your CD Key has been used for hacking... Don't come back with sob stories, because there is no way round it. Either you hacked yourself, or your CD Key was produced by somebody with a CD Key Generator. Either way, you will have to go and buy a new game (obviously two copies with your brother CD Key banned too) with new CD Keys. Invalid Pointer is just a general bug in the game, I don't understand how people come to get it, but after a reboot of SoF2, it usually fixes it for me. Invalid .pk3 files means that you have downloaded mods/skins/maps/sounds etc, and are trying to connect to a pure server, this is fixed by connecting to a non-pure server, then heading back to the one you originally connected to. You can check to see whether or not a server is pure or non-pure by selecting the server in the server list, then click on 'Server Info' scroll down the window that pops up and check for a command that sayd sv_pure. If it is sv_pure 1 then it is a pure server. If it is set to sv_pure 0, then it is a non-pure server. From www.punksbusted.com -

Why am I getting kicked for PB Guid Auth: UNKN? The "PB GUID AUTH: UNKN" kicking means that your Game client is not sending a valid cdkey to Raven's cdkey auth server. Usually this is due to a problem with your cdkey entry. Exit SoF2 and then use your Windows explorer program to find the "base\mp" folder where SoF2 is installed on your system and delete the file called sof2key. Launch SoF2 directly and before you get to the game's main menu, it should ask you to enter your cdkey. If this does not fix the problem, then perhaps there is some type of firewall or security software blocking your game's communication to Raven's cdkey auth server. Be sure that UDP port 20112 is open for clear communication if you have a firewall or some type of security software. If you are running a SoF2 dedicated server with PB on your own PC or in your LAN and have internet connection on this server, you have to use the pb_sv_lanmask setting added since PB Server v1.039 as described in our documentation. If you do not use this you will be kicked. The reason is that when you connect to a LAN game your game client does not send any information to the Auth Server. However, the PB Server will contact the Auth Server and find that your GUID is unknown. As of PB Client 1.043, we have a new PB command called pb_cdkeyver which forces PB to send a Cdkey Authorize packet to Raven's Cdkey Auth Server for players who get GUID UNKN on PB Servers. Try entering /pb_cdkeyver into your console before joining a server to see if that helps.

So basically you are pretty damn stuffed with the two CD Keys you are currently using... I reccomend buying two more copys of the game - they are incredibly cheap these days. Any other problems, post back and I'll try and help out :)

Plus he said this: [QUOTE=Gambler1971] 2 P4 computers connected via router to Cable internet (similar ip)

They might not have the same IP address anyway...

EDIT: sorry, forgot about this button for the last post :p

BlackHoriZoNInvalid .pk3 files means that you have downloaded mods/skins/maps/sounds etc, and are trying to connect to a pure server, this is fixed by connecting to a non-pure server, then heading back to the one you originally connected to.

Be very careful with this as this method is used by some cheats, and you may end up banned doing it this way... as you CAN get an unfair advantage (pink skins in a snowmap for easy detection of the enemy?)...

'Pure' means that both the server and the clients MUST have the same pk3's... and only the pk3's that are on the server are being used (so custom pk3's are ignored). When you have custom files (skins, huds, etc) you CANNOT use them on pure servers when those custom files are not on that server.

But there is a bug and by doing the cursif part of the quote you are abusing that bug. When an admin sees that you are using custom files (skins, hud, etc) on a PURE server than those admins may ban you for doing this...

Have you tried buying a new copy of the game? A new CD Key will solve all your problems :nodding:
