Here lately I've been having real problems with the MPE. I'll modify a HP file, then load BC for a test drive, but I get an error that I mentioned a couple threads back. For a bit I thought it might be BC, but now I'm certain that it is MPE related somehow.

Anyhow... what seems to be happening is that MPE is wiping my HP files completely clean. Load it up, and I see a list of all properties (hull, etc), save it without changes, load it back up, and it's totally blank. No properties whatsoever.

Anyone have any idea/clues?

I got this error when I put illegal characters (in this case hyphens) in the names of some weapons. Check to make sure that you've no symbols and all words are case correct.

and always back-up files to a completely seperate directory before testing!

Most of the time I'm changing sheild strength, phaser recharge rates, etc. Something small since I do more tweaking then anything else. There is no greater sense of frustration when you just about get that HP file tweaked just right and then have it wiped by the MPE.

firstly, and the most ovious, make a backup. Sercond, if you've done any manual editing (or that particular HP has ever been manualy edited by someone) chances are there's an error. Also, if you open a second ship/hardpoint in the MPE at the same time, it will wipe one clear. U can only load 1 ship and script at a time.
