My game was working fine on friday, I took off for the weekend. When I came back, I started the game, when I went into a server, the screen freezes right away and gives me a sof2mp.exe windows error, like it is a conflicting file. I tried the regular game and it was giving me the same sorta error, sof2.exe. What is going on? Can someone help. I have reinstalled the game 3 times and still the same problem. Can someone please help the Jackass to figure out what is going on.
problem with punkbuster not being up2date??
I thought of that, but why would i not be able play single player? :(
Give this a try. It worked for me.
After you uninstall go into Windows explorer and make sure all the files were deleted. If they haven't delete them.
Then check your registry. Sometimes a key is left on your machine. When you try to reinstall the says the game has been previously installed so it looks for any files that have not been written over snce the uninstall and it will reuse them. Saves time on installs to use existing files even though they have been "deleted."
To check your registry go to "start", click "run", type in regedit. Expand the HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Go into the "software" folder. Look for the "Raven Software" folder. If you have no other Raven games installed beside SoF2 then delete the folder. Otherwise enter the Raven folder and delete only the SoF2 key.
When you're done with that go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and expand it. Again, go into the "software" folder. This time you're looking for the "Activision" folder. Do the same as the Raven folder. No other Activision games installed, delete the folder else enter the folder and delete only SoF2 keys.
Now, reinstall your game and patches. This should take care of the problem.
Before you reinstall again, try tis:
* goto screen options and set fullscreen to NO
Or (when that isnt possible (crash?)), do this:
* Open your sof2mp.cfg (wordpad will do), and look for a line like this: seta r_fullscreen "1" * Change the 1 to 0, then save
Both make SOF2 play in a window... this can be helpful when you crash as it often shows you the reason of the crash (in that green console)... but not always :uhm:
