Dear friends, First of all, let me introduce myself. I am Captain_Iglo from the Netherlands, 26 years old and since a couple of days having fun with adsl and SOF2. I bought SOF2 about one year ago and finally defeated the last mission. But.. playing on the internet is even more difficult and quite hard!!! My brother is a newbie so I asked him if he could install SOF as well, he received my cd (original) and installed it. When we are on the internet (adsl; he is using Planet Internet and I use Compuserve; both fixed IP) we cannot see each other. Is this because of our "serial number" which is the same or is there another reason to solve it? I want to play against him. We both are able to play in other servers. Regards, Captain_Iglo
What do you mean 'cannot see eachother'? Do you mean if one of you hosts a server? Or you cannot find him if he is connected to a server and you search for him using Find a Friend?? Please give a few more details on what is happening and I'm sure we can help you out :nodding:
Well, this is the problem:
We want to play against each other. To do this one of us hosts a server. Normally the other player should see his server when refreshing the lists. But, I can refresh and refresh but I can't see his "server" (For example, my brother generates a server mentioned "Pascal") I can't see "Pascal" in the complete server-list. I even tried to search all gametypes but that doesn't work either. When I host a server (for example; Iglo) then my brother is also not able to see my server-name. Got it? We have to try if it works when we connect via the ip-address, maybe that works?? Maybe it has something to do with the exact serial number we use? Has it something to do with our Dutch-adsl connection (ports) Has it something to do with my brothers Norton application (he disabled it he told me) What could be the reason? I hope you have enough information. Captain_Iglo
It could be you have your server set to LAN, which means Local Area Network. If you set it to be Dedicated you should be be able to see it in the Complete server lsit.
Also, do either of you have a router?

The best way to set up a server is to use Sof2 runner and NOT through the game menu. Btw, you should EACH buy the game.;)
You dont have to buy the game if you're just using it to play against each other like that. All you have to do is enable PB guid Relax, you do this by typing into your green desktop SoF2 server console the following:
That means if you don't put the CD-Key into one of the games, eg. you or your brother, then it won't kick you for not having a CD-Key for your game. Because you don't want to be kicked for Duplicate CD-Key :)
If you do manage to get a server up, take the IP address by Pressing 'Esc' then click 'About' And it will come up with all the information about your server.
Write down the IP address( eg. xxx.xx.xx.x:xxxx) and give to your brother and tell him to type in the console of his game:
/connect xxx.xx.xx.x:xxxx and if it works, he should be connecting to your server :nodding:
I think that u guys host non dedicated server and if only host player is connected, then no1 cannot see the server in servers list. If there are two players in non dedicated server, then the server becomes visible in servers list. U must connect through the console /connect ip :p
Edit: Hm...BlackHoriZoN said the same...must be too late :uhm:
