I am trying to make my crosshair fast and smooth at the same time. I am using like /sens 2 and /cl_mouseaccel 5 with very low windows sensitivity. I have noticed that mouse skips sometimes when i move it quickly. It could be caused by crappy mouse or could it be because of mouseaccelerator - it calculates wrong pointer position?
Maybe it's not good to use that software kind of accelerating? Do u preferre using mouse acceleration or not and do u use sof2's or mouse drivers accel.?
Would you be using a Wireless mouse by any chance? Get your self a mouse with a leash and you'll be sliding so smoothly it'll be heaven. You can't beat the refresh rate of a cabled mouse. :)
generally, what you want to do is set your mouse driver's sensitivity to its highest setting. this enables the mouse's driver to poll the mouse at its highest frequency which translates to its highest DPI. unless you are using a Razer mouse, your mouse is probably only 800 dpi. next, make sure that the windows OS mouse sensitivity slider is in the middle. this means that windows will not alter the mouse driver's output. by moving the windows slider down to a lower sens, windows will simply ignore every other, or every third, or every forth mouse movement increment. this provides lower sensitivity, but results in a choppier movement. you definately want the windows slider in the default, middle position. third, use the in-game sensitivity to adjust the sens to your liking.
I personally, do not use any mouse acceleration. if I were to use any, I would definately use the mouse driver's acceleration setting to do it. the mosue driver is built specifically for your mouse and probably does the best job at controlling.interpretting its output. also, the driver is running much lower level code and therefore will generally provide better performance.
if you want a mouse that has higher dpi than any other in existance (except for the Razer BoomSLang, which is a trackball)... check this one out. it is a 1600 dpi optival mouse, with as 16 bit output pipe... your current mosue is probably 800 dpi with a 8 bit output pipe... this mouse will be worlds smoother than what you currently have... regardless of what it is
good luck, frost
Horizon, I have wired mouse;)
Interesting theory from Mister_Frosty. I am going to try it.
