Why do sysops put custom files in /base? -1 reply

that's very retarded. all custom files go in base/mp. that way your base folder has nothing but the original pk3s. if you suddenly have a problem, just clear your mp folder and that fixes it. also, i have all my maps in mp, but some idiots make me put a copy of them in base. even worse is when they put custom files in the mod folder, forcing you to get stuff you couldnt care less about and that has nothing to do with the mod you're playing. sadly, this is many times the fault of the server owners, who force people who rent their servers to put everything in base and don't even have an mp folder. i just hate having 4 or 5 copies of the same file to be able to play in different servers. :mad:

Originally ( as you stated) it was the server owners ( not the people renting servers) that made these mistakes. I remember when H@ze at clanwarz was doing this. Made alot of bs happen that didn't need to.

Just ignorance of how it works is all. By the time people figure it all out, the game passes on.

Download all your mods(osp, roc, whatever) and turn autodownloads off?
