I am aware that the Borg don't use latinum in the game. Is there a way that I can get them to use latinum? What file (s) would I have to edit?

Second, how do I change the name of a resource used in a game. Let's say I wanted to change the name from metal to ore or something of that nature. How do I do that?

Ok I figured out the resource name one. All I had to do is go to the Dynamic Localized Strings file. Now all I need is the Borg question answered and I'm all set :P

You need to edit it in the Borg odf race file and get their freighter and mining station to support them. Starbase34 and/or Westworld's Big Book of Modding can help you out in this. :)

I've checked out both and I couldn't quite find the answers I was looking for. The stations are equipped to gather and obtain latinum. I just don't know how to get the Borg race to cooperate :P The buggers lol. I've looked up and down the Borg race file about 20 times in the past 2 hours.

You might have it working, but not displayed on the GUI.

Well this is the exact issue that I'm having. I put latinum on several of the ships and stations, so the player will need latinum to produce the best fleets. The latinum never shows up on the pop-up captions and the latinum is never taken out of the reserves. I did check the GUI file but I have no idea what to look for or what to add to it.

Generally if you look in the misc folder, you will find the GUI set-up files and there is where you can add in by coping the co-ordinates from the Federation one into the Borg one. However then you need to edit the GUI files in the sprite and RGB folder, which is a lot more complicate to just adjusting text lines and values.

Well I might as well reveal what I'm doing here :P Right now, I'm working on an upgrade for Star Wars Fleet Command. Latinum has no use in the original mod and I'm doing what iI can to add it into the mod. I already fixed things up with the rebels, but the empire is the last thing I'm working on. Yes, the empire has a latinum count and the resource can be harvested and used at a trade station. The textures, their placements, and the total latinum available shows on the display. However, latinum can't be used in the production of ships and stations. Latinum is just used as a quick way to get other resources. This is what I'm trying to change.

Just by way of a suggestion-- try replacing the Borg GUI with a Romulan or other-race GUI (NOT 8472) so that the latinum IS visible, for testing purposes.

Although if you're revamping SWFC and neither of the GUIs in that mod show latinum either......

The rebels, which are based over the federation, do show latinum. But the empire, which is based over the borg, don't.
