I've been trying for ages to make a good special weapon for the Olympic class. I had in mind something like the Shield Emitter that did a green wave effect and boosted Life Support, but I never was able to get it to work.
The latest version of the Olympic released on these forums used a Federation Repair Team. While that wasn't perfect, it got me thinking that I might be able to kitbash a variation of the Repair Team to work as a Medical Team, concentrating on immediate survival as opposed to getting the ship repaired-- a crew-survival oriented version of the Fed Repair team.
I was wondering if someone could help me design a similar power, but one that gets the shields to 10% and gets the Life Support to 100%.
Anyone have free time to help?

Shields to ten percent should be no problem. Change the line in "fedrep.odf" to read "shieldsReturned= 0.1" where 0.1 means 10%. Its default setting is 50%.
But the "fedrepair" special weapon restores all of the systems, not just life support. That's hard-coded. The only way I can think of to do what you're suggesting is to include separate special weapons to disable all the other systems aboard the ship EXCEPT for life support, and there's no real use for that.
Besides which, the "medical ship" concept only works if there are wounded. Armada's crew settings only know the living from the dead. Even if it did, a medical team's purpose isn't to restore life support, it's to save lives. A medical team in a vacuum is going to be just as dead as those they're saving.

The way I figured it is, the Olympic is never identified as only a medical ship. People only assume that because of the Pasteur. I use it for an SCE ship (Starfleet Corps of Engineers). It has various repair weapons. Of course, I redistributed the Nebula's weapons to other ships, as I replaced the Nebula with the Luna Class and all of those weapons don't fit well with that class.
I still think there should be a way to regenerate a set amount of crew, but to what end? If the ship runs well enough to keep them alive, it will run well enough to get to a repair yard.

I do something similar with my Olympic class-- it has the stock Romulan Shadow class energy-to-shield transfer ability (but with a modification that makes it take a very long time to bring those shields up all by itself). It's basically a glorified tugboat. That's as medical as I need it to be in-game. :lol:

It may not be specifically designed as a medical ship, but I sure like thinking of it that way, because none of the other races have a similar concept. Leave it to the Federation carebears to make medical ships with light weaponry. If I could figure out a way to do it, I'd love to add diplomatic ships that don't get auto-fired on by races with their own diplomats, that could arrange short peace treaties. That would be a highly "Roddenberry" addition.
Back to the special weapon-- I was thinking I would like something that has good synergy with the Fed Repair team, but not exactly that-- an underpowered version. Even if that meant reducing the life-support repairs that Fed Repair gets to make it work. Or allow it to be used on an enemy ship, which would make capturing abandoned ships much easier.
Perhaps if it recrewed, or beamed over crew in the same action? Like, twenty crew added, Life Support restored, and shields at 10% [minimum]. And perhaps if the transporters could send 10 crew at the rate other ships send 5...
As a fallback, I guess I could follow Starfleet Kid's idea and use the Energy-to-Shield Shadow weapon, but I'd rather deal in something that speaks to Life Support.
PreciousRoy I like your idea. Ive always viewed the olymic class as a medical class cause from ST Legacy and from TNG. I have been learing how to do so may different things w/STA II. As we speak I'm trying to learn everything there is about special weapons and regular weapons. If I can think of something Ill let you know.
