As of this day, 22nd september 2005, I hereby am revoking permission for any publically released mod/total conversion or other game conversion to be hosted via the Filefront network. The reason for this is simply that due to the lax attitude of staff here and the recent releasing of uncredited mods which also can be known to have materials (models, textures and other files) which have not been given permission to be used. I will not have this happen with BI:VR or any other mod I produce. As such anything I produce and publically release will be in the form of a password archive. The only person/persons who are exempt from this ruling are:
- Adam Kitchin (otherwise know as "Phantom" in modding circles) - Clint Hall (otherwise know as "WrathofAchilles" or just "Achilles) - Twilight modding team
These people, and ONLY these people have been granted pre-permission to use materials produced by me. Any others I see are doing so without prior authorisation.
I will not change my mind concerning this until somethng is done concerning the staff on this website. Uncredited material is no excuse for keeping a file selection up to date.
If I may ask, will your work be available elsewhere ?
paulhansellukIf I may ask, will your work be available elsewhere ?
I would imagine they will be avaliable on AFC (Armada Fleet Command)! MaP is staff there, thus he will be strict regarding the credits etc. You are also required to login before downloading models from there, so it has some security that A2files does not.
This is really silly MAP. I love your work and have d/l and used your stuff in my personal A2 mod. But to punish us all for the failure of a few here to give you proper credit is wrong. Address the issue with those concerned. After all we all clicked "Accept" on the license agreement when we installed this game agreeing to allow any third party modification to be freely used by anyone without restriction. All of the most respectable modders have adopted the "Modder Code" of making sure proper credit is given to the original creator. KaBoom out.
LOL. Kaboom. Dont' you think this issue has been raised time and time again?? Being a new modder is no excuse for not adding credits for someone else hard work that is used. End of story. So its not as silly as you might first think. Oh and with regards to the licence agreement. You might see it in that fashion but I believe that the hundreds of modellers and modders might see it in a different light. The fact remains is that a2files.com staff actually must look in each and every submission to post the relavent readme file, but it seems they couldnt' care less about checking if the original materials used are from another person, who worked hard and long, giving up their free time. I ask a question. Have you had this happen to you personally??
so what does this all mean exactly i cant download am i just miss reading this
i've only released 2 things, one was a station remodeled from A1 Beta by Achilles, and the second one was an update after feedback from this forum. even for the second 1 i said cheers to the peps that had a hand, (the first MOD i must of thanked Achilles atleast 5 times...)
well i dont blame Major at all, the way the staff are running things.... sad, and pure lazyness and stupidity
someone i think im misunderstanding this or some reason maybe its just one of those days WHAT DOES THIS MEAN someone dumb this down
Anything Major A Payne has or will release is no longer allowed to be placed on a filesnetwork site including a2files. Whether this includes his material in other peoples mods you will have to ask him personally, if you didn't ask for permission originally then you have no chance.
