Like the title says, is there any way to apply a 512x512 cube texture to the borg cube which uses a 256x256? and do so without resizing the texture itself? such as editing some file. any help would be hot. thanks!

YOU DONT NEED TO EDIT THE TEXTURE, SO LONG AS THE TEXTURE REMAINS SQUARE IT WILL APPLY IT THE SAME;)

sorry damn caps :)

yeah but when I do the game crashes when it tries to build it. and it's not my system because I run hi-res textures on all of my other ships plus I'm using a radeon x800pro on a athlon 64 3400 system with a gig of ram. could it be something in the SOD?

You MUST resize the texture. You can do that with very simple software like even the free stuff that comes with scanners. Simply resizing it may not look best though due to some clarity loss during blow up. I did all new Borg textures in 512x512 recently and they are in the archives here for download. The cubes were highly detailed if that helps.
