i have a severly modded version of armada 1 with all the neccesary patches, but now certain ships (no matter what i do) have no build buttons or wireframes. the fscout, fcruise1, fbattle, fnebula and the kcruise1 and kbattle are the ones that never show up anyone have any ideas about what is causing this
files accidentially got deleted or misplaced in another directory? the code that governs these ships is commented out? have you physically confirmed that the graphics files are in place and in the right directory? have you looked in the global gui sprite file to ensure all is well with the coding?
i replaced every buildbutton and wireframe, but those in question wouldnt appear, so i went and put in the stock ones and changed the global gui back to stock but they still wont appear. it's heavily modded and ive heard Armada 1 is pretty picky about changes, maybe that has something to do with it
Just a quick thought, when you say heavily modded am I to assume you did all the modding yourself and you know what is in there? Okay, let's take just one of these as an experiment, say kbattle, and tell me exactly what the files names are for the model, odf, texture build button and wireframe files. Then copy and paste the respective code from the gui_global.spr sprite file and the respective tech tree (tech1.tt should suffice) for us to gander upon.
i added each mod one at a time and i noticed that alot of gb's and wf's didnt show up, i got most to work simply by changing there names which is weird in itself heres the info you asked for btw kneghvar.sod kbattle.odf w/ baseName = "kneghvar" gbkneghvar.tga wf_kbattle.tga

Everything, with the exception of the wireframes extry, seems okay. That one looks a little screwy to me When you say the build buttons don't show up, are they completely missing or are they just white? Also, did you check the entries in the respective shipyard? what do they look like?
they dont show up at all, but you can build the ships if you click where it's supposed to be, wireframes are empty also

if you have a graphics program, try opening up the bild button and resave it...ensure that it is a 24bit, uncompressed tga file
the program i use (Irfanview) doesnt tell me whether or not a .tga is compressed or it's bits
