I stumbled across a ?program? called PolyChop 4.2 at assimsoft.com and was wondering what it does/how it runs, It supposidly is supposed to be an automatic poly reduction tool. There are only 3 files in the zip polychop42.dlm, polychop.cpp and polychop.dsp and I don't know what they are associated to. I was wondering if anyone else did. Here is a link to where it was found.
well the DLM file is a plugin for 3dmax studio. CPP is either for c++ or more likely part of a Maya 3d file, and I'm not sure about the DSP file is. Polychop is an extremely good program as long as your careful with it. However, one wrong change and you can literally delete half a model.
Could you use this with ms3d?
GreathorCould you use this with ms3d?
An extremely good question ;)
Well I have been fiddling with a Trial version of 3DS Max 8 and I put the .dlm file into my plugins folder and tried to run 3DS Max but it says that the files are made for a different version of Max, so if anyone wants to give it a try to see what version of Max is required, my guess is version 4, go ahead, the link to the file is in the 1st post. Is it even possible to get older versions of max?
My "guess" is that they are for Max Version 5. Especially if this tool is for Armada use.
Yes this would be good thing for ms3d. Perhaps if my programming goes well I can adapt it for ms3d. Nice Find trekkie:p
well i just tried it into max 4 it LOADED perfectly i just gotta learn how to activate the plugin lol
You'll generally find that plugins for 3dmax 4 also work in 5 as theres a great deal of compatability between the two. You'll also be very hard pressed to get these plugins to work with MS3d.
I always see plugins for Max 3, 4, and 5 but is it possible to still get versions 3,4, or 5? This plugin would help me out alot, as I don't know what to do to poly reduce ships/stations.
