So what have I been up to since the last posted update here?? Well with the mod now in complete Beta stage (This means that all thats left with the actual playable sides is the Physics files for the ships and the race AIPs). In the past week or so I've been busy with sorting out the additional non-playable but capturable map units as currently they are:

First, the USS Arizona - Carolina Class. Poly count is around 2888 polys and provided I get permission from WickedZombie it'll be converted. As it stands I'm happy with the results and the overall shape is around 98% the same as the original.

next, rebuild of P81's rather excellent Excelsior Class. This has been reduced by about 600 polys to 2384. Most of the original mesh still remains (I really do hate doing engineering hulls when they are cylindrical in shape).

The USS Picard: Dignity Class. I've got to get permission from Azel/Atolm befor ethis is converted, and yes. A few will probably think this is the Ent-J but whilst it bares a slight shape similarity its not linked to the J in any way other than being Federation. I do like the design and its like most of the non canon ships I've worked with, unique and well designed.

New poly count is around 300 less at 1940.

the new Mantis Class. Poly count is around 3400 polys less than the original and now stands at 2433 polys.

Lastly, these were sorted out earlier. The top one is an unedited Norway Class (P81's version). This is an excellent example of a model from him. Its around 1200 polys and uses two high detailed and very clean texture maps. The others are variants of the Nebula class. Whilst the one thats already buildable is the generalised version (heavy weapons pod), two of these three are well known:

- Top is the Melbourne refit with additional twin nacelles. This will give the ship far better manouverability and speed that most other ships. - Middle one is the Pheonix with a Sensor Pod. Of course this will give the ship a much larger LOS and it'll also allow the ship to detect any cloaked vessel. - The bottom two images are of a new design pod (suggested and named by Mathew Hooker: Creator of the Mantis Class above). Its basically a medical triarge pod (with independant shuttle bay), and as such for the moment this will allow the ship to carry a better version of the fed repair team, and it might also allow another new special weapon (havent' thought about this just yet though.

Anyway, heres the pics:

Major! I really am lost for words! Though, I do think I can manage a few for you :p - All look awesome, except for the Mantis and Dignity Class - These not being because they aren't very good. Simple because I dislike the design of them. However, the others (all of them) are supurb and I couldn't compliment you more if I wanted to. I do hope however that we will be seeing the normal 'Weapons Pod' Nebula variant!? - However, one final Question. Will you be keeping the Registries of these vessels? (If not yet decided, may I reccomend you to not do so)!? Anyhow, as I've said many times before GREAT work :D

Well remember that these are as good as the people that created them. No matter how much praise people give me, its their hard work thats counts. The actual nebula basic version (heavy weapons pod), is the one thats rebuildable so no worries there. As for the registries. That would be a bit difficult. To keep the amount of textures down to two, I've had to use the same Nebula basic mesh and just remodel the pod.

Nice to know your keeping the original Nebula class :) As for the work, yes it is others, however you must have taken considerable time down-sizing the polly count! Even if you haven't, I know a lot of your models (mainly Klingon) - of which I saw a while back, was your work and very impressive to say the least. Now, ship registries. I can't promise anything, but if you'd like, I can give it a shot of removing them with Photoshop!? - I have done do on various other ships (some for personal MOD's I've had in the past, and some for packages I uploaded a while back). As I said, no guarantees, but I'd be glad to help out and give it a shot.

Those look brilliant, as always. Who's nebula is that? It's the best one i've ever seen. I'd hazard a guess you took the computer animated nebula from paramount:) . On a serious note, they look to be about 3000 polies. Also, this may sound stupid, but is the norway class buildable ingame? At a poly count as low as that - while still keeping the polies - it could serve as the scout

Amateur, you mad? A Norway as a Scout? :( - She's a Cruiser :D - I *believe* the Nebula is P81's too, though don't quote me on that.

Well, technically shes a diplomatic cruiser your right - but a scout role would suit her perfectly. The shape screams of agility and maneuverability.

That does sound plausable amateur. I love the way the mod is coming Major, The USS Picard is a step into a different direction, but looks really cool. Mantis class, while looking like the saucer has been sliced apart, looks like a very formadable warship. A very well done job here Major, cant wait to see more.

Okay. Just for information, the Nebula base is actually Deemons A2 version thats already been in BI2. The poly counts are not above 1250 so they are well within range. The only one thats left to do for the federation map units is the Brabury class, but that may be dropped. Then I'll be moving onto the other sides map units. There is one Reman vessel which is to be included, but I won't say what that is as its being kept as a surprise.
