Talk about annoying.
I recently installed the Twilight Universe pack. Now I get this.
Instead of a pretty starfield, I get THIS monstrous giant-squares-of-doom field. It's hideous and I've tried just about everything to make it go away. Anyone who can help me will earn my unending appreciation.
(I may have asked a question like this in a previous build of A2-- I don't understand WHY this happens, but it happens before, and I don't remember how I fixed it, if I even did....)
Only thing I can suggest is looking in the starfield .odf files. There're settings in there for all the starfields. Unfortunately, there're allot of them, so it may take a while to find where the problem might be. Also look for references to other files that control the stars.
Sorry to go off topic, but why is the Ferengi ship is smuggling commies? LOL!!! Anyway maybe the Texture's size is wrong, try resizing it.
it may be the sprite file, missing texture, odf error OR the art.cfg file.
I have no idea why, the Twilight pack eats up my computer for breakfast then spits it back out. But the Smuggled Communists is hilarious XD
jetfreak;3990423Sorry to go off topic, but why is the Ferengi ship is smuggling commies? LOL!!!
What better way for the proud vanguard of the proletariat to overthrow their imperialist masters than by joining forces with the most profit-driven race in the galaxy? ;)
Not sure which textures are affected, so I don't know which ones to resize.
it would be the mstars.tga file.
It's not mstars.tga-- I replaced the file (which is a boggling 3MB in size!) with a smaller one and now I have a tacky starfield with white boxes on top of it. So whatever it is, it's not mstars.tga, and if anyone else knows what it could be (the starfield .ODFs are my next best guess, but I have no clue how to modify them), please let me know.
EDIT to add: I managed to steal a set of starfield .ODF files from an old mod I downloaded once upon a time, and the stars are now sort of like black blobs. They're not as annoying as before but they're still like sugar cubes in space rather than starlight.
right the twilight starfield works like this: 1 tga file M stars, which is displayed a few hundred times over in the background. This is achieved by making 3 different sprites using that texture each of them that display the tga images at different sizes. Then the odf files decide how many times each sprite is displayed in the starfield for that map. In the above screenshot, it appears that the problem is at the sprite level with one of the sprite sizes. I'd check the spellings in the sprite files of the the tga name and the spellings in the odfs of the sprite name.
Maybe the background galaxies?
