*The following is a message I sent to Elrond about this very important subject. If we succeed, the first project that I will include it in will be STA2.6 AOB.

draconis_sharpI figured out how to get blue skin shields to work. The first task is to get an expert team together. I think we'd be best off with you, MaP, Achilles, and myself of course. I came up with the inspiration from a combination of sitting in the truck and trying to pull a tractor out of the mud, a forum about Voyager's armor, and your Elven Cube with armor pods. The second task is creating a mesh that fits perfectly around the Admiral's Sovereign (that's the one I have; this is out of convenience for me). We must then animate the textures so that the shields turn blue when hit. That's where Achilles comes in. He has more experience in modeling and animation. He is also involved with Future Tense, which is involved in similar things. Third is adding the hardpoints to the mesh. Why hardpoint it you say? Well, perhaps I can explain by saying that the shield is attached via a pod and "recharged" by going into the build list and building it again. This will also allow us to research later shield designs instead of the ones that a ships start out with. That's sorta where you come in. You have a little bit better knowledge of pods than I do. I can pick apart your Elven Cube mod and look at the odfs, but I think having you there would help... and I had a feeling you would really enjoy this little project. Really, the hardpoints are so that weapons will hit the outside of the shields instead of heading towards the root, where the shield is actually attached to the ship. On the thought of keeping fairness between the player and the AI is that the shield sod is larger than the ship and the ship beneath (which has only hull and no shield hit points) will not be selectable as a target until the shield sod is removed (destroyed; all shield hitpoints gone, no hull points, therefore destroyed as soon as shields are gone). To select your own ships, the difficulty can be overcome by simply selecting units via the bounding box. Pods are never selected via bounding boxes, unless selected individually (very unlikely to do accidently). That's all for now. Please PM or email me as soon as possible. Which part is wrong? Oh well, I can't use AIM anymore. I forgot my user name and when I tried to sign up again, I accidently entered in 2005 for my birthdate and I can't send the info again from my computer because now it thinks I'm underage. If I go to the public library, it probably won't recognize the IP address and it may let me try signing up again. For now, I think I'll try getting MSN instant messanger, but I'll do that later 'cause I'm busy right now.

Its ok, sinse its your first offence, the system i discovered also makes explosion effects over the hull where the phaser hits it.

I'm not going to post them here incase some sniveling noob modder comes in dls em and jery-rigs a mod and claims that he came upp with it first, i'll see about e-mailing you, or you could try to fix your AIM?
