That new Loknar of Fireball_IV that went up a few days ago got me thinking about quit a few things that should be able to be done by the ship models. With that in mind I have a few questions and I'm not quite sure who to ask so here they are. #1 Can a damage node have an explosion put on it that only goes off once when the node is activated? #2 Can the emiters be made to slow down their venting and made smaller? #3 Can an emiter or somthing else be made to look like small chunks of the ship, hull plate and the like, that has jus been blown off ? #4 how would you make the emitters look more lik frozen atmospher and warp plasma instead of iluminades co2 fire extingishers? #5 When a ship or station explodes is there a way to make the lead up to the final blast last longer or make the ship have mutiple small explosions befor the big one? I think thats all of them I have right now. THak you for your time.

I don't know how to do 1,2,3 or 5, however 4 is a textures thing. You need to speed up the emitters by about a factor of 4 and change the texture to something that looks a little more convincing than the current (slightly tacky) texture.

1st: don't know but maybe 2nd: should be editable in the emitter sprite settings 3rd: spritefiles using tga's for those emitters so we have to change the tga and see what happens 4th: same as the third 5th: should be possible in changeing the whole settings for an explosion, maybe this inwolves odf and spr file editing but this can even only be possible in A1 since A2 is a bit different and some things you think that should work, don't work ;)

1/ no, but you can make a new animation has has a huge wait after it runs through the initial frames, so in essence yes.

2/ certainly, check emitter.odf

@emitter plasmalrg (emitter name) type=spray (Type) pixel=(0.9,0.9,0.2) (RGB values, overwritten in animation) sprite=ventplas (sprite name) expansion_rate=1.3 (how quickly the frame expands) **Lower this firing_period=0.15 (how often a new frame is emitted) lifespan=2.999 (how long each animated frame lasts) velocity=8.0 (how much force the frame is ejected with) **Lower this spread_angle=5.0 (how big an area it spreads over) @end_emitter

3/ yes, someone released one that looks like little spacemen getting ejected. just replace the tga with whatever you want and slow down the firing period so it only sends a few off.

4/ for the frozen effect I'd simply sharpen up the tga until it looked like ice crystals and give it a blue edge. Warp plasme is a bit more difficult but needles to say it's all texture work. see xsmoke.tga and xparticle.tga

5/ very difficult but the same as number 1, just timing in the animation.spr. this is from emitter.spr

@sprite_node ventplas plasma fade3 (2,2) (1,1,1) billboard

showing fade3 as the animation used, in the animation.spr we find the fade 3 entry.

# Fade from white to black in 3 seconds @animation fade3 color 2 3.0 linear @keyframes 0.0 (1,1,1) 3.0 (0,0,0)

a simple 2 step linear, it goes from 100% opacity to 0% is 3 (time frame?) you can add steps to it by increasing the number after "color" and adding steps, for example.

# Fade from white to black in 3 seconds @animation slowbreach color 4 3.0 linear @keyframes 0.0 (0,0,0) 2.0 (0,0,0) 2.1 (1,1,1) 5.0 (0,0,0)

creates a new animation that waits 2 seconds before exploding.

Indeed and I wish to pick as many brains as I can because I think that we as a moding community have taped maybe a third of what this engin is capable of and I aim to find the roof as it were.
