Is there a way to setup the cloak so that when on, the transparent effect doesnt happen?? so the ship looks the same with the cloak on or off). I fear it may be hard coded :(

transparency = 0.0 I found this line in the gcloak.odf file. I dont know if it will help you but i suggest you fiddle with it.

Tried myself didnot solve it, but i try to modifie the sensor jammer weapon maybe this could work. what i try to create is some kind of stealth technique for smaller ships like fighter.

Excellent suggestion, Griedh! That's right along the lines of how I thought it should work!

problem with that is the point of cloak is for your opponents not to realise you are there, rather to make it obveious by disabling their sensors.

Not to mention that the sensor jammer does not hide the ship, it disables sensors as Admiral Ryan rightly points out.

If you have a short sensor radius then its useless, and if its to big then its unbalanced. This probably is not the best way of doing it.

While its a good idea I don't think its exactly whats needed in this case as this is to be mounted on a fighter.

Freyr, its a stealth fighter lol. Did you watch Battlestar? :p (This is for Battlestar right? Judging by your name and the obviousness of it :p) So if its stealth, then it should have cloak, or something similar. :D

yes, but what we mean is that the point of it is for it go unnoticed, and I notice when my ships loose their sensors. Also this would mean that even though you can't see the stealth fighter, you'll loose sight of everything else as well! it would be like the entire colonial fleet is hiding behind the stealth fighter!!!

not shure if its correckt what i think but if the sensor jammer just triggle in a very very small area the enemy sensors wouldnot get shutt off but couldnot see into the small field the weapon created. What i notice is that if a ship is in a nebula which disable sensors you couldnot see it but the system is online becorsue you are not inside of the nebula.

:nodding: Thats what I meant, and I would hide the entire fleet behind the stealth fighter if you did it this way. Why? Because nobody would be able to see the fleet to shoot at it.

If you can't see it, you can't hit it. If you can't hit it you can't kill it which means they kill you even with if heavily outnumbered.
