Hi, I'm new at modding this game and I was wondering in readme's what it means to add ships to a construction yard when installing a new ship to the game. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Open the Shipyard ODF, which is found inside the ODFs/stations folder. Somewhere in this file will be found entries like the following. buildItem XX = "Blah Blah"Adding a ship means you add a line of code to the ODF just below the last entry already there to allow the shipyard to build a ship you want it to build. This is something I did a very long time ago to help people get the things they want into the game.

Minor Mod Tutorial, Star Trek: Armada 2 Downloads, Star Trek: Armada 2 Tutorials

This explains the entire process of adding a new ship to the game from start to finish. I tried to write so people whom are unfamiliar or uncomfortable modding A2 could follow the process without making mistakes.

and please do really have a look into this and other tutorials. just adding a ship to a shipyard doesn't mean it shows up in the game even when you put all the files into the right folder before. the techtrees have to be altered as well as the gui_global.spr. sounds complicated, but really is done in a minute if you know how. have a good look at the readme in the ships mod files as well, and follow the instructions.

and welcome to the modding community of A2. :)

What do I do if shipyard.odf is not there?

there is no shipyard.odf. every race has its own. feds have fyard.odf or fyard2.odf and so on.

I take it that fyard is the simple yard and fyard2 is the advanced one?

yup. again: take the time to read at least the minor mod tutorial or else to have some sort of a clue before you start.
