I was wondering if the ferengi salvager ship is hard coded into the game. I am making a mod and wanted to changed the salvager ship to Serenity (from the TV series firefly). I know some more compicated things like the galaxy seperation are hard coded and I think this probably is as well. Hopefully someone can tell me I'm wrong about this. :)
Resistance is futile, eh?

You can change the ship SOD easily enough, just make sure you alter the .odf accordingly and export the SOD under the same name.

By which he means, you have to include the following into the .ODF or your scavenger won't do anything of the sort:
classLabel = "scavenger"
aiName = "SalvageProcess"
Also be sure to change the following:
Oh, and make sure at least one of the weapons on board is a tractor beam ("gtracbm" is the stock version) on a valid hardpoint. Since tractor beams require special energy, make sure the Serenity has at least 1000 of special energy, and a good recharge rate to keep the beam active. (Or you could always lower that number and have the beam keep cutting out.... very typically Firefly that way!) :lol:
And of course, make sure both the .SOD and ship .ODF are named "zferscav" --don't be afraid to overwrite the stock versions, as long as you've backed them up.
I got a pre-done firefly because I just can't do SODs. I should be able to just put the tractor beam on a hardpoint that's also used for something else at the same time. Thanks guys.
Oh and starfleetkid, it's already got special energy. It even comes with limited weaponry and the crybaby which works as a decoy :P
