ok so i had downloaded the federation upgrade pack a little while ago, but there was some bug in it and i had to reinstall every thing. ya what ever. any ways, all the other files like sod, odf and the textures are still there just not in the build trees or any thing. any ways, changing the galaxy class to a galaxy X, i coppied most of the odf for the weapons, but there is one small problme. the cannon isnt there, its in the special weapons list and the odf, but the button isnt there. it was this galaxy X version that was in the mod (im 99.9% sure of it) Galaxy X, Star Trek: Armada 2 Downloads, Star Trek: Armada 2 Federation also, does any one know how i could change it so that it works more like the point def as in it would only take up energy when it would fire.

i think that the point defense weapon is like a toggle weapon, it constantly takes up special energy while it's active. at least it does in A1, I'm not that much of an Armada II modder
well in ether case, does any one know why that cannon did not or would not work, i mean the one that came with that ship.
ok so ive given up on trying to make a special weapon version of this. im just going to make a normal phaser only .... more deadly. there are the 2 normal weapon odf files, but is there any other ones? ive never tried to make my own weapon yet

Making your own weapon sounds more difficult than it appears, but its really quite basic. Just copy the original phaser odf files , rename it something, for example in this case gxphas and gxphaso. Then you can edit them to your hearts content. Just remember to change the top part in the gxphas.odf file. //Name of the ODF file for the ordinance for this weapon ordName = "gxphaso" You can do a lot more, like changing textures, sprites etc. Consult one of the tutorials like Westworlds Big Book Of Modding
so it is just the 2 odf files that effect the weapon then right?
ok .... i have the phaser the way i think it should be, just one small problem. it acts just like a normal phaser, how do i make it so its more like a directional weapon like ... BOP pulse phaser that isnt turet based.

As far as I know, you can't give phaser's weapon arc's, only pulse weapons can get them. But I could be wrong. =/
ok .... so how do i change it so the phaser would fire in the set direction like a pulse phaser or what ever.
could i make a fire arc restriction for this phaser? or would i have to edit a pulse phaser into this kind of weapon?
