I installed a new ship which i downloaded. I installed the textures correctly, the sod correctly however the mod didn't come with an .odf file so i made my own using a template from another ship. I then updated the tech tree and the global.spr file. however i dont have a button texture so the button is just grey. Not my problem tho........ when i build the ship it is built as a white box with a red spider/bug graphic on it..... what have i done???????

i've had a similar problem with several mods i've downloaded. usually the culprit is the odf named differently from that of the SOD file. this would cause the default 'red bug box' to appear. one way to fix this is by making sure both files are similarly named. another fix is to check near the bottom of the odf file and look for a line that says the following:

basename: "xxx"

the xxx is the name of an SOD file. if it is different than that of the odf, than the you will get the bug box in game. either delete this line or change what's in quotation marks to the name of the SOD file. note that not all odfs have this line in them.

that should solve your problem. good luck.

Just because he is knew doesn't mean that he doesn't have the capacity to learn. Thats the difference between a n00b and a newbie.
