I'm curious about something shiny I see in Fleet Ops....

There's a base in the Federation side that causes a ship to warp to the rally point. Can such a thing be done in A2 (without reinventing the wheel or tampering with the hard code)?

Well the basic principle behind it is the 8472 heavy yard but I'm not exactly sure how the effect is done. You will need a new portal effect. I know that much for sure.

Cant be done. They have added a 'warpin' command and its for multi types of ship. I think the 8472 idea is the best way to make somethin similar.

I figured they'd tinkered with code-- it was too cool for regular school. Thanks for the info!

as far as i know you just need to add the wormhole = "xxx" command in the shipyard odf. then you need to make a wormhole that looks like a warp-in effect. every ship that is build will then come through the wormhole.

It certainly can be done, although it doesn't look quite the same --all wormholes / rifts use a horizontal plane, so ships come through aiming up, and leave aiming down. So you can include this....

wormhole = "warpflash.odf" (or something similar)

but the ships will emerge into the map heading upwards, then swing back down to settle at the zero-point in the horizontal. It's a little irritating if you look too closely, but it works as an effect, especially with the A2PP settings enabled-- they come to a stop and curve around as they do it!
