I was thinking the other day that I could make a few suns into nebulae and they could do a great amount of damage. *Here's the good part. What I would do is make the sun a background object right, next I would take a blank sod (not too hard to do) and give it nebula properties and make it huge! Something like 2 or 3 times the area of the sun. The blank sod acts like radiation emminating from the sun. When you use the map editor, you could take something like 9 or more light sources and point them out from the sun. Of course you'd want to aim them as if the light we're actually coming from the sun. I wonder if Fleet Ops thought of anything like that? Anyhow, I've been messing around with stuff like that for STA2.5.

does sound like a real nice idea - but i think (not 100% sure) but i think fleet ops has already though this up - if you look at some of there newer images they have this ship orbiting a sun like object - i don't know how they, or you have done this, but could you not use a planet as the sod, have an animated sun texture and still have the radiation!?

seeings as Sherman2 hasn't replied yet im going to make a guess, although its just that, have people thought of animated battle damage i dont know if its possible but that would be one way to make a nacelle flash.

Yeah, it's been thought of before. I have heard that Future Tense will try that, but I'm not sure that the game's hard coding will let them.

Hmm... That's pretty nice. Say, you wouldn't mind sending me that would you; I think I might be able to do just what I was talking about. I haven't tried much recently because I hadn't found a suitable sun.
