Hey guys, i had a chat with Ash over MSN earlier today about how he made those backgrounds for ZH and he gave a few pointers on how to do it. So i thought i would show off my first background.

The image i used to make it is one from one of my space books, so i don't think i will have to have credit for them, but i will note where i got them from if i decide to release them. I will also mention Ash's name too.

Well, without further delay, i present the map background.

Spoiler: Show
galbg.jpg

And before you ask, no, the galaxy is not part of the background. So, do tell me what you think, but do take note that this is my first background so if you want to criticise, do it nicely.:p

Note to moderator's: As this is to do with both mapping and modding and editing, i will let you decide where it goes. I decided to put it here due to the lack of threads.

Lovely. The only thing I'd mention, is you might consider subduing the nebula vibrancy. It's a little bright. Otherwise, beautiful.

I agree with Kel, it is tiny bit bright on the nebula bits but it is better than all my attempts at making backgrounds (mine always looked weird roung the edges.)

I agree that the Nebula's on the background are a little too bright, i will try and find a way to tone it down a little. I sent in a potd not long ago which shows the background in another view which you can see here, (with my new Klingon ship.);)

I will make some more soon and post the results.

There is a trick to that, make them as one 512x image and then divide into four 256x images.

I think a 512x1024 image would be better, as you have to divide the picture in 6 parts ;)

Yeah, but its near impossible to get the other two bits to join up to anything this way. I have done four sides of the cube before and I don't think anybody really noticed.
