Modding is quite extensive, file size is 492MB. Looking to get feedback on weather to upload it. As the mod is extensive i have to find on who to get permission off to use alot of the mods, STGamerNew2002 mainly for his Dominion and Breen race. Ships, Stations and planets have all been changed or expanded, especialy the federation. Any feedback will be greatful.

there is already a mod under the name "Armada 2.5", released by Draconis_sharp, and I am doing a re-release of his mod. Besides changing the name (sorry) there may be a way to zip it even further, if you are using winrar you can set the quality of the compression potentially making the ?.zip? smaller at the cost of a longer time to actully compress the files.

Are you removing all the uneditted files as 492mb is crazy for a mod, alot of TC don't go over the 200mb mark. I remember downloading one on AFC that was around the same size and the author left all the stock unedited files in it, he just zipped the entire Armada 2 directory, I was quite annoyed when I saw this.

If you have permission to use everything and a list crediting everybodys work then your free to upload it.

However, if I download 500MB and find its containing the stock files then I will not upload it to the site. What you need to do is include ONLY the changed files because re-downloading the stock files is a waste of bandwidth, which somebody has to pay for.

If you cannot do this yourself then make a new 1.1 installation and use a program such as clickteams patch maker (http://www.clickteam.com/eng/patchmaker.php)

And as Majestic said, make sure your using max compression.

I have reduced my mod to 257mb by getting rid of all uneeded files. thank you for your reply. I think i have some of your mods put in ( Freyr ) but am not sure. I will be going through all my ships and stations to find out who made what and try and get permission. Thanks again for your input.

one time i made a nice mod on my a2, that was a collection of ships for the various races, mostly fed. I even made a voyager varient that could launch a delta flyer. I deleted it out of need for hard drive space though.

The best way if your creating a mod you want to release is create a list of who created what ship/mod when you put them in or better still ask permisssion before doing so. Thats what I have been doing with Parallels. Most of the material is made by the team but there are a few things that arn't so I have been collecting the permissions as I go.
