seriously is there a way to import non stock sod's? im not trying to steal anyones work i just want to use some 3rd party ships made for a2 in a1.

..the only way(that I'm aware off)that you can do this is with the non-stock importer which sorry to say but your not going to have much luck with through official channels....

Absoloutly not... but the importer does come with source code then you can mod the code quite easily and build your own library (if you know a bit of code and have a complier or a friend that does).

Asking about the importer here is pointless and ultimately a frustrating exercise. Just pop by your local community college with a copy of the basic program and 20 bucks, any of the students in the computer program can probably bang out what you're looking for. That's my plan.

There is a program called CV, I've used it and it works but. It allows you to convert SODs to MODS (Starfleet Command) which importer plugins for both 3dmax and Milkshape. The problem with CV is sometimes if the model is not one mesh you have to reconstruct a model like a jigsaw puzzle and make sure the textures don't have alpha channels. If you find the program I can help you with the problems. Rod. PS to any one concerned.... I am not trying to stir up trouble, but I absolutely do not subscribe to the notion of locking down a tool that is helpful because a few people might use it for malicious use. A lot of people rip others off through the internet. Should the internet be shut down to stop them? If Maddoc felt the same way this community does, we would not be allowed to mod at all. As far as I know, all maps are done with their map editor, which they provided. Bottom line, it is unfair for an "elite" few to have access to something. This community is very well policed, and plagiarism is dealt with through exclusion. But why punish people who simply want to improve their game? I've been modding A2 since it came out seven years ago. I just now have access to ms3d. Until I get better, I would rather use other ships I find online. But I would also like the freedom to tweak them to my satisfaction, for my own personal enjoyment. Behavior like this leads to elitism and estrangement of potential modders like myself. All I want to do is retex a few things, jeez.

Well, been down this road before. protests aint gonna get any1 anywhere. The decision was made by high ranking people to remove to importer. I would suggest closing this thread.
