Making a new race for my game. They're an alliance of Maquis, Breen, Orions, Ferengi, Remans and Federation Rebels.

I'm running into problems having different sounds play for the different race ships. I want the "stolen" Sovereigns and Defiants to play Fed sounds, the Breen to play breen sounds, etc. But all I can get are one or the other. Is this possible to do? And if so, how do I go about doing it?

Well, the good news is that it is possible.

There are two ways of doing it, either via the 'events.DAT' file, or via the ship-specific .ODF file. Personally, I think (for what you're aiming for) you'd use the ship-specific .ODF file.

This is the code for the Enterprise-E, because it is a specific unit, it has a specific set of voiceovers://********************************************************************** //MESSAGE & SOUND PARAMETERS

eventSelect = "PicardSelect" eventAcknowledge = "PicardAcknowledge" eventAttack = "PicardAttack" eventRedAlert = "PicardRedAlert" eventYellowAlert = "PicardYellowAlert" eventGreenAlert = "PicardGreenAlert" eventStop = "PicardStop" eventMove = "PicardMove" eventRepair = "PicardRepair" eventDecommission = "PicardDecommission" eventTransport = "PicardTransport" eventSelfDestruct = "PicardSelfDestruct"For your purpose, you'd need to create a new one, specific for your type of vessel, thus you'd have one for your breen, one for your ferengi ect.

You'd also need to input your new sounds (the above coding) in the events.DAT folder too, under:################################## # CAPTAINS VOICE SOUNDS # # Depends on Race and Craft Type # # Specified in Craft odf # ##################################I think that's the lot.

Interesting. I tried doing that with the generic cruiser commands, which just produced the same sound as the base race had before (The Breen). Then I tried the same thing referring directly to the base voice files, which resulted in no sound. I'll give this a shot. Thanks Aerilon!
