I know this is a long shot asking this here and I realize DDS textures has nothing to do with a2 but I'm about at the end of my ropes here as I can't seem to get a hold of anybody from the Lagacy community(almost like they just disappeared off the grid :uhm: )I'm hoping maybe there those of you here who's familiar enough with photoshop to maybe help me out with this problem. Couple of days ago I came down with a nasty virus that automaticly logs me off emediately after I log on to my pc which ultimately forced me to end up reformating my entire desktop and loosing all my files and program in the process. I'm now in the process of restoring what I can but allot of the really important stuff is gone(modding references, web pages, documents, tutorials, tools, etc). After reinstalling my photoshop, I seem to have inadvertantly changed some settings or the way how the photoshop opens up DDS files because now everytime I open a DDS file it displays the textures like this.... Does anyone know how I can fix this or maybe tell me where the setting controls are to where I can revert back to a one page display of DDS textures being opened as the default?
it should be asking you if you want to display default mip maps...which are the automatic texture resolutions..or create new ones...or none...if you just want the standard texture...there has to be something in preferences for it
I didn't make it!
I dont know how to fix that but I can offer somthing eles. I use this to convert DDS files and work on them as TGAs. It is supose to be able to make TGAs into DDS files to though I have never used it that way.
Hey guys, Starfox1701 thanks for the suggestion and I think I might actually find this option very usefull oneday(file and program saved)but for now I'll consider that a last resort when all else fails, thanks! Cpt.BenSisko I think you maybe on to something(this is part of my post over at the Legacy forrums next door).....
dEjavU';5239349..I tried and tried to back track what I did that would've changed the settings but the only thing I can think of is when I just barely installed the DDS plug-in and I was opening up my first DDS file, I was promped with a dialogue box, I must've clicked or ignored something on that box which possibly led to my current pradicament....
...what your refering to must be it, unfortunately I can't find anything so far that mentions anything about default mip map settings. Earlier today I was opening up certain DDS files when one of them opened up the right way however I was fronted with this dialogue box.... ..but after proceeding to the mentioned preference menu I can't find anything familar here..... ...suggestions please(anyone)?
incase the settings are saved in the plugin try mine as its set to only load the higher resolution image
Downloaded your file in a heart beat the moment I saw it hoping this might be the day I finaly get this issue fixed but sorry bro, it didn't do anything different :( are you sure you uploaded the right file cause this is exactly the same size as the DDS plug-in I grabbed from Legacyfiles. Looked around for another hour or so, got to the point where I tried to start a new file and then try to save it and realized I just opened up the NVidia DDS plug-in interface... ..having looked around in there I discovered something that I hope might help. I noticed the map generation section and next to it has a 2d and a 3d preview option there so curiously enough I went and see what the diference are between the three using the 2d preview. Switching to either of the first two are somewhat similar to my current pradicament....
....however the third one(no MIP maps)displayed what I was trying to revert to all this time..
......hopefully, for anyone willing to help, this will shed a little light on the matter. The thought did accur to me to see if I can change the setting there but I can't seem to open the interface unless I try to save something and even so, it only pertains to that specific file that I'm trying to save and not the general settings itself.
the only other help i can offer is that open ur file copy it all make a new file but ensure its square (width same size as its height not other way round) and paste this shud get rid of the others
Thanks apoclaydon. :)
I had this bookmarked...don't know if it will help or not. NVIDIA Plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop
Researching through that channel now, will post back if I have this resolved. If not then that means I still have a big fat question mark floating on top of my head and any any help would still be greatly appreciated. At the very least I can begin to replace some of my research web pages pertaining to these topics that I lost not too long ago, thanks Pepperman.
