Deus1. It takes a bit of practice and patience, but you'll get there in the end. Also try to start of with something small. Don't go trying to dive in at the deep end. Besides. Theres plenty of people who can help.

Not at all Spectre. I have been doing this for a long while but Major has been doing this for even longer than that. He knows what he is talking about.

JkerPlay. Never underestimate a modder. You'll find that there are people who specialise is specific things. ODFer's are 10 to the penny, but very few know absolutely everything there is to know. Also remember, that even the best modder in the world can still make stupid mistakes (I know as I've made enough in my time), and whilst frustrating, and sometimes unavoidable, is easy to understand. Besides, in my view theres no experience like first hand.

I second that!! My experiance has tought me that no matter how good you arte or how many things you know, you'll end up doing a mistake someday. It's only natural... And between you and me, some of the "unique" things that we have accomplished as a community, started out because some one made a mistake. But learned "from" it, then learned "about" it and eventually used it to his advantage to make something that hadn't been done before!

I just figured out some really basic ODF modding myself... to practise I just made a Trekky Authentic ship re-scaling mod. I was surprised at how easy it is when you get into it, though I didn't really write original code as to simply modify existing code instead. Still, I was shocked when it got over 20 downloads on its first day...

While no-where nearly as skilled as these guys, I'd suggest doing something like that to start with; it worked for me. Next project for me will be perhaps a new weapon (i don't have enough dosh for 3dmax... I don't have enough bandwidth for milkshape3D (56k still!!! Urgh). And that tutorial the guys above mentioned is pretty handy too

Does anyone have a mod that replaces ship files to make them more realistic without having to edit every single odf?

Hi, Im new in this Forum and at A1/A2 Modding. First, I have 3 Questions: 1. I downloaded your Mod and I really like it. There┬┤s just one thing I would want to edit on this mod just for myself and I wanted to ask for your permission(@ matt_el_g). 2. The things I want to edit are : The strengh of the Warbird and the weapons of the defiant. (I want to make the weapons of the Defiant look similar to the ones used in DS9) (For the Warbird, I want to give it an additional phaser and torpedo launcher, so it has a slightly better chance against the Negh┬┤Var) 3. How do I do what I described in the second question ?

Thx
