Well, I suppose this is Zero Hour related, but the main point of this thread is to say, that whilst the stock models had horrid textures, the models themselves aren't actually that bad. - I've seen a lot of people go on about how bad they were / are, and to be honest, your all wrong. The models (at least, the majority of them) are fine, it is the textures that let them down. Anyway, just to show you what I mean:
That is the stock Starbase model, looking its best ;) The ships and Logo are there to make it a nice picture, a simply picture of a station is slightly boring and unappealing. Regardless, it has turned out quite well. I had to take the whole thing apart before I started (the way the stock textures go on the stock model aren't very helpful), and I had to 'copy' one of the sides. This no longer has that 'build' facility, I've filled it in, seeing as the Starbases in ZH wont be building anything, I don't need that facility. Anyway, what does everyone think? Good or what :p I'm half done with the Mining Centre too, and then will get onto the Orbital Facility (which I'm actually going to be using as an Outpost) - Those two I am using from VR, just doing the textures again.

Hey thats some nice work there, although i have already seen it, i must say it looks great. As you said, its not the models that let A2 down, it is the textures.
The thing i like about this is that it matches the rest of the Klingon Ships in ZH, especially the Vor'cha.
I havent yet seen the Mining Station so i look forward to seeing that.
Indeed very good work there, now thats what I like to see good stock A2 models with new life with new textures. Nice job Ash. PS: I am interested in the statement about no ships being built from starbases, care to tell us your plans/ideas with that or is it a ZH Team secret?

As a Zero Hour team member (all-be-it the new boy) it's news to me aswell:p That Klingon starbase looks really slick, nice job Ash:nodding:
 No secret behind this one Majest. By the way, if you don't mind me asking, what is your real name? But anyway, in regards to the plan / idea (which has already been implemented), with your stock game of Armada / Armada II, you start with a Starbase, and two Construction Ships (and a scout with the A2 patch). For Zero Hour, instead of a Starbase, you'll start with an Outpost, all this will have is the ability to re-crew, and give you more crew in your crew pool, and weapons. The Outposts wont have 'building' facilities. To build Construction Ships, Freighters and what not, you will have to do so through an actual shipyard (which will be the second build-able thing on your list, following the outpost). The shipyard count will vary depending upon the race, the Federation for example, will have 6 (including a repair yard), the Borg wont actually have any shipyards (I'm doing something completely different with them). Once you've built your way through the tech tree, the last station to build on your list will actually be a Starbase, for the Klingons, it'll be the one shown above. Again, they wont be able to build ships, but they will however have docking facilities (used to repair ships, and to dock). The starbases will be big(er) than the outposts, to think, the Cardassian Outpost is the centre piece of the Nor Type Station, the Cardassian Starbase is that big round thing that Kira, Damar, Rusot, Odo & Garak go to when they 'borrow' that Dominion Bug.

That is quite an improvement. Great work. I'd like to vote for the look of the starbases in KA. I really like them, but that's for the old show. The A2 version does resemble a decent upgrade.
Sounds very interesting Ash. This mod is going to be better than I thought. Keep up the great work and ideas. ;)
