Im new to editing ST Armada II maps but am having a problem which may be simple for you to answer... When I save a map I have created or even have copied such as Warzone etc. When I go to select it in the Instant Action and then select the mini map hidden button it doesn't show the image of the map so you can see it or select starting points. I've tried every thing even the suggestion to zoom in all the way at the top right of the screen when saving. What part am I missing in saving the map so that it functions right? Thanks!

Welcome to the forums n2:D

and then select the mini map hidden button

Uhm, I may have misunderstood you. But I think you have to press the minimap hidden button to make it unhidden. If that doesn't work then go into your bzn and find the map you made. Then make sure there is a bmp image with the same name as your map. If you do all that it should work:p

Thanks for the reply... Yeah thats another thing I noticed there is no bmp along with the bzn file like the other maps. Do you have to do something different for this to be created? I have tried this on my upstairs computer just to see if it would work there or if there was any difference. Possibly I am not hitting a setting in the Ctrl-R map menu? Thanks for advising.:uhm:

Well, you should be saving your map using the map editirs menu. When it gives you the option to save as then you make it have a seperate name. Then it should automatically make a bmp for you. If not(thats weird) then copy paste and rename one already made.

Yeah I do the Ctrl-R and change the name there and then when saving I have been doing the Ctrl-S and make it the same name such as maptest1 or something. It creates the maptest1.bzn file but no bmp image. I've tried now on a couple of computers so it must be something I am doing wrong. If I just play the game it does work but I cant select my starting points etc. I think I'm missing something or not doing something in order. I do appreciate your replys though. I'm a newbie so its cool. :uhoh:

Hmm, and do you have all the map editting files in your a2 directory? As for you being a "newbie" don't worry about it:p We all start somewhere:)

Yes sir well from what I read I copied all the info. from what I found into the armada ii directory as they show. I thought for sure there would be a simple answer. lol Ive started reading some of the tutorials out there and looking for something that talks about this but not finding anything covering the bitmaps bmp. Im clueless I'll keep trying though. ATVI unsupportedextension_mapedit The default installation directory is: C:\program files\Activision\Star Trek Armada II\ Create a shortcut to Armada2.exe Open the properties for the shortcut and add "/edit mapname.bzn" to the end of the Target line.

This is very unfortunate. But theres a way to make the bmp files yourself. When making a map that you are done with hit the print screen button on your keyboard. Then use paint to cut out the minimap on the bottom left corner. If you dont want to do all that stuff, then download this map editor I use(attached below). This one doesn't give me any problems. See if it works for you.

Cool deal! I appreciate that!!! I will download the editor file on my downstairs gaming computer and check it out. I'll also try the cut paste method you mentioned. Thanks bud! Have a good one.
