If you're still thinking of it as a special weapon, you could even have different shield settings... Side-by-side buttons (each a separate weapon with higher shield strength, drain time, and level of transparency/static or something for the shield's texture effect) with up to 10 settings? Or, maybe even 5 shield AND 5 variable weapon settings. The end buttons should be rounded on the outside edges, while the middle buttons should be square. Maybe change the gui_global so the buttons are all touching- like it's a single strip, and set the input.map file so you can use the F key to quick select. And make a color gradient from like green to red (indicating power drain) from left-to-right on the button-power-strip. That way, you could choose how much power to set the shields and/or weapons to- and the button setting would be highlighted, so you'd see where it's set. LOL, I was falling asleep when I started this. Anyway, good idea and good luck with it.
Thats not a bad idea Kel so you could do stuff like in BC and increase shield strength to like 200% when youre facing the borg or some Klingons=p
It would definatly come in handy in a pitched fight with a Cube.
