I have a few small questions for a mod I am working on (that I will hopefully post once completed). I have read through much of the modding files (Westworld and such), but seem unable to find the answers I seek. kmining/fmining.odf (stations) : //Dilithium transfer rate from freighter to station dilithiumTransferRate = 5.0... am I to take it tthe higher the number, the faster it mines? odf files (other) borg/fed.odf : // How relatively fast we mine any resource miningRateModifier = 1.3... again, does a higher number mean faster mining? It seems to me that for different things, a high number can mean 2 things, and there seems to be little clarification some some. EG: // How quickly this race repairs. Bigger is slower repairStrength = 0.8f... does the 'f' indicate bigger is slower for all items/all odf's, or just this particular bit? I am also trying to add a 3rd shipyard to federation, but all downloads I have are missing elements. I have both the SanFran and "X" Yard... but they seem to be missing element (wireframes,etc...) and instructions. If anyone can help me fill in the gaps I would be greatful. Bodene
well some ships stations ect dont come with instuctions because most ppl already no how and the wire frame youll just have to make one your self other than that it shuld still play just fine without them
:cya:Hey there!:cya: As far as i know, the higher number for the dilithium transfer rate, the faster the freighters will offload their cargo at the station ,i.e dilithiumTransferRate = 1 will be way slower than dilithiumTransferRate = 10 Not too sure about the "f" thing though... although from what i can see, it seems to be the case that larger is slower. Also, in the line stating how relatively fast we mine... miningRateModifier = 1.3 a bigger number, as with the dilithium transferrate, will speed up the rate at which resources are collected by the mining freighters. As for the new ship yard,i agree with KJ87 the game doesnt really suffer all that much without wire frames, but if you gotta make one i would recommend Westworlds Big Book Of Modding it truely is the A2 modders bible. it can be found at http://armada2.filefront.com/file/Westworlds_Big_Book_Of_Modding;8835 if your getting into modding A2, its pretty much indespensible. theres also a really good wire frame tutorial at: http://armada2.filefront.com/file/Build_Button_Wireframe_and_Admirals_Pic_Tutorial;60555 This also rocks! Also, if you dont mind me asking, what kind of mod u planning on? hope i helped a little? Cheers:) and happy modding!
thank you both... you have helped alot. I have tried to do wireframes, build buttons, etc... but just don't get it really! LOL! Since then I have just avoided any downloads that don't come with everything. Anyway, I will keep working on it and keep a eye out in the near future for my "full mod" of the game.
Don't be afraid to experiement. Through trial and error you will learn a great deal, plus you gain experience in the process. Build buttons are pretty straight forward. Wireframes take a little bit more effort to master.
:ditto: I've learned LOADS through trial and error. I don't know a sodding thing about wireframes :p - I haven't gotten into them yet, but Build Buttons (providing you have a Photo-editing program) is relitively easy. Just time consuming and "can" get tedious at times.
wireframes arent that hard to do but they cost time... perhaps you find a tutorial on armada2files that helps you.
