I cant say whether this is acceptable or not,if not just moderate and delete.
But I've been bin hacking the stock sods and have been able to change the way they use lighting without changing the file size, which theoretically means the hacked sods could work in multiplayer online play.
the reason i did is because some of the stock models look stupid with the default lighting used. i added the phong style to most of my stuff and removed opaque just by changing opaque to phong with a space at the end for the extra character.game didnt crash and displayed the correct lighting type as well.
im gonna try them online tonight to see how they work,if at all.

I would say doing this to the stock models soley to get around the restrictions on the A2 multiplayer is fine.
quite an interesting idea actually, I am going to have to attack my test installation with a hex editor to see if the restrictions can be bypassed, because it could let you do quite a lot that we can't do now.
Very Interesting, I look forward to seeing this outcome.
I'm curious as to how you are 'hacking' the .SOD files... What program (if any) are you using to accomplish this?
heh good ole fashioned windows/dos edit with binary wrap at 70 lines LOL..works just fine.
just locate the lighting comment ie: default,additive,etc.. and press your insert key on the first character and replace the characters.be sure the replacement lighting type is the same number of characters as the one your replacing.the only one ive tried with using an extra space as a replacement character is opaque replaced with phong and the next character being the space key.
